The Art of Innovation
Integrating Creativity in Organizations

Dimis Michaelides | David Magellan Horth

Developing creativity at a personal, team, and organizational level is a leadership imperative for thriving in a world of accelerating change. However, the roadmap for achieving this is often either elusive, overwhelming or insufficient to deal with the complexities of the leadership challenge in making creativity an integral part of their organization’s capabilities.

Savvy leaders recognize that to make innovation thrive they need to simultaneously orchestrate changes in a number of different elements at different levels of the organization and to synthesize their own and others efforts.  The elements are:

  • the Sources of efficient creativity (Talent, Energy, Method)
  • a Structure to drive innovation (Individual, Team, Target, System)
  • a Culture that makes creativity a potent force in an organizational context (Ideas, Engagement, Freedom, Humor, Risk)

This course introduces a set of elegant principles that makes these elements tangible. Participants will learn practical tools and techniques for applying these principles thus enabling them to design and develop robust and innovative organizations.

Through interactive presentations, games, activities, assignments, ventures into the visual arts and magic, the workshop will transform the complexities of organizational innovation into the realm of the possible and feasible.

Who needs The Art of Innovation?
Leaders and managers, trainers and consultants recognizing the compelling need for creativity to thrive in current times and looking for a systematic approach to developing a sustainable capacity for innovation in organizations.

Expected Outcomes
By the end of the workshop, participants will:

  • Be able to apply 12 key elements required to make innovation an integral part of any organization
  • Have audited their own organization and identified what supports and what inhibits innovation
  • Have a plan to enhance their own organization's innovation capability
  • Be able to leverage their own preferences within the innovation process for effective innovation leadership
  • Be able to distinguish between "effective teamwork" and "innovative teamwork" and thus develop a plan for promoting effective innovation teams
  • Be able to apply the fundamentals of creative method and techniques to organizational innovation challenges
  • Be able to analyze and develop interventions for enhancing organizational innovation in different situations using the tools of a savvy innovation consultant
  • Be positively energized to apply all they have learned (including a magic trick or two!)

Lateral Thinking For Innovative Leaders

Mary Ellyn Vicksta | Natalie Jenkins

The Lateral Thinking course is a dependable, systematic approach to creative thinking.  It’s used as an igniter, striking the matches that lead to innovation.   It gives participants the tools they need to find profound solutions to stubborn problems and roadblocks that they encounter.  Lateral Thinking provides unconventional techniques that help people escape from their usual patterns of thinking to produce enhanced results.  Breaking away from usual patterns is the key to creativity.  Innovation will never happen without creative ideas, processes, and thoughts.

Who should take this workshop?
Not only managers and those in R & D, but anyone who wants a disciplined approach for innovation, idea generation, concept development, or a strategy to challenge the status quo.

What is the Lateral Thinking course all about?

The Need for Creative Thinking

A Revolution for Reinvention
Coaching Through Unpredictable Change

Janeen Whalen

The game has changed and now so must you. None of us are prepared for this economic upheaval and are apprehensive about the fallout in its aftermath. So many of us are caught in shock not knowing how to navigate this unsteady landscape.  We are questioning our assumptions and finding that what we knew to be true is no longer something we can count on. We claimed our success by doing what we knew worked. Now the tides have changed and a revolution for reinvention is upon us. Each of us has to custom-design our future all over again

Never before has the need for coaching been greater. People are hungry for guidance and are turning to coaches to assist them in understanding change and articulating a new future.

Overview:
Coaching, or just-in-time learning is changing how people learn. It's a required competency for today’s and tomorrow's leaders, weather your leadership is applied to business, a classroom, community or a family. Understanding human behavior and developing human capabilities are the primary tasks.

This transformational learning process allows new insights into how one sees the world. Automatic thinking and embedded behaviors have produced the current circumstances. In order to move forward into new possibilities, an understanding and ownership of how an individual has constructed a particular perception of the world needs to be acknowledged. Some of the most valuable benefits a coach can provide a client are the facilitation of a new way of thinking and acting.  Creative and innovative strategies that were previously unrecognized, now step into the light creating a breakthrough shift in how the world is seen.

A Revolution for Reinvention - Coaching Through Unpredictable Change will give you an opportunity to experience the power of coaching in your own life. You not only begin to learn coaching skills, methods and principles; but you will also experience the impact of all that you are learning as a client in the process.

The course style is interactive, "hands-on" with the participants actively applying what they are learning in a safe and encouraging environment. It weaves together inquiry, systems thinking, reflective learning and supportive challenging processes as well as giving and receiving valuable coaching feedback. It is our intention that through these non traditional methods each participant recognizes their own unique voice and style and understands the impact of their presence.

While some courses emphasize methodology at the expense of practice this is very much of a practical “how to” course. Some of the skills that you will be learning are:

How To:

  • address the concerns of today and interact with change, fear, paradox and unpredictability
  • dance with the future; instead of trying to control it
  • listen to your client so that they are fully seen
  • know when your client is not coachable
  • use the skill that is most appropriate at any place in a coaching conversation
  • access your intuition to enhance your work with your client
  • identify self defeating influences
  • create a powerful trusting coaching relationship that allows you to do the deeper work
  • keep from getting stuck in the details and to stay out of 'fix-it' mode
  • craft the quality of question that taps into the clients’ innate wisdom and passion

A Revolution for Reinvention - Coaching Through Unpredictable Change will take you on a learning journey.

You Will:

  • Develop a powerful foundational coaching skill set that can be used in a corporate or personal environment.
  • Grow both competence and confidence as a coach.
  • Develop your own unique coaching style and establish a compelling coaching presence.
  • Be able to coach different people at various stages along their developmental path.
  • Identify your own personal learning edge to enhance your coaching.

Who Will Benefit:
Any person who is interested in an overview of the art, process, and practice of coaching; whether you want to add a new skill set to your existing portfolio, start a new career path or use what you will be learning for personal exploration and awakening.

“Remarkable coaching allows the client to experience their greatness and learn about themselves in a way that empowers action and opens possibilities.” -- Janeen Whalen
